Dr. James Eugene Bell, 53 year old Cheyenne man, was killed in a one-car accident at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 1973, one and one-half miles south of Cheyenne on SH 283, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman confirmed.
Bell was southbound on SH 283 when he apparently lost control of his 1965 Pontiac and ran off the left side of the road. He traveled 261 feet off the roadway and came back in a skid. His car then hit a bridge abutment with the left front side of the car. Seat belt was not in use, Don Cearlock, investigating trooper reported.
Bell was taken to Roger Mills Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne where he died of massive internal injuries.
