Leeda
Brown was born to John and Suzie Weber on June 3, 1910 in Manitou, Oklahoma and
passed away on May 11, 1994, at Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 8
days. She spent much of her childhood and early adult years in the Elk City
area. She worked at the Armour’s Creamery and later as a beautician. She was
married to Billie Brown on February 26, 1938 in Elk City. They made their home
in the Strong City area where they farmed and ranched. Two children, Chalmer
and Melba, were born to this union.
Leeda was preceded in death by her husband, Billie in 1989; her parents, seven
brothers and sisters.

include one son, Chalmer and his wife, Ann, Cheyenne and one daughter, Melba of
Elk City. Two grandsons, Terrill Brown of Pampa, Texas and Bruce of Cheyenne.
Also two sisters, Freeda Marney and Ruby Burkhardt, both of Elk City and two
brothers-in-law, H.G. Kennedy of Sawyer, Kansas and Lance Brown of Elk City,
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May
14, 1994 at 10:00 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel with Willard Cox
officiating. Burial will follow in the Strong City Cemetery under the direction
of Martin Funeral Home.
