Funral services for Veda Mildred Evans, 75 years-old Thomas resident, will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 2;00 pm in the First Christian Church of Thomas wih Pastor Dan Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas
Veda was born on May 19, 1937 to John and Mildred (Bowker) Martin in Canton, Oklahoma and passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was raised in the Canton and Longdale, Oklahoma area and attended Canton Public Schools. She was married on October 25, 1956 to Robert Louis Evans in Fairview. They made their home in Fairview and Rush Springs before settling in Thomas in 1966 to raise their family. She worked in area restaurants includng the Farmer’s Branch, and baby sat for ten years in the community. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, gardening, yard work, and crocheting.
Veda is survived by her husband Rober Louis Evans of Thomas; one son, John Evans and Starr Towell of Cheyenne, OK; two brothers, Richard Martin of Guthrie, OK and Dusty and Sherri Martin of Canton, OK; two sisters, Barbara and Melvin Halderman of Vici, OK, and Edith and Jim McCracken of Davenport, OK; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Homer and Johnnie Lee; one son, Mike; one daughter, Alice Collins; and one great-granddaughter, Zoey.
