GILMER, Vicky Lea

Vicky Lea Gilmer was born September 24, 1952 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Nadine and Leon Lane. She passed away February 3, 2015 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years, four months and nine days.
Vicky grew up and attended schools in Reydon, Oklahoma. In 1968, she moved with her family to Allison, Texas where she graduated from Allison High School in 1970. Shortly after graduation she was married to Jimmy Dean Gilmer at Shamrock, Texas on June 20, 1970. Vicky and Jim moved to Wheeler, Texas to begin their life. Vicky worked in the Lane’s Grocery Store for many years taking care of the people in the countryside and became known to many as their “Aunt”. They moved to Zybach in 1996 where Vicky continued in the grocery store and also worked at the Briscoe, Texas Post Office. In 2006, they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma because Vicky didn’t trust Jim’s driving or the other drivers on Highway 6. Vicky was a big supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Caring Voices Organization. She was her own cvic organization with all her friends and enjoyed playing Farmville on Facebook, fishing, riding around the countryside and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Allison First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, an infant daughter, Kendra and one sister, Janie Lane. She is survived by her husband, Jim of the home; one son, Casey Gilmer and wife, Misty, Elk City, OK; three grandchildren, Abby, Riley and Ellie Gilmer, all of Elk City, OK; mother, Nadine Lane, Wheeler, TX; three sisters, Linda Gilmer and husband, David, Wheeler, TX, Kathy Badillo and husband, Hector, Wheeler, TX and Teena Robinson and husband, Rick, Allison, TX; four brothers, DeWayne Lane and wife, Kathy, Wheeler, TX; Floyd Alan Lane and wife, Sheryl, Allison, TX, Franklin Lane and wife, Tracy, Hammon, OK and Leon Dean Lane, Lubbock, TX and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Allison School Gymnasium officiated by Michael Dyer and Timmy Elliott. Burial will be at Zybach Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com.
