Sylvia Bullard Moad was born October 9, 1925 on the family homeplace near Crawford, Oklahoma to Bess and Hester Lee “Heck” Bullard. She passed away August 18, 2015 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, ten months, and nine days. Sylvia attended school at Bellview and Crawford. After graduating from high school, she moved with her sister to Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked in the Boeing airplane factory. She was married to Joseph Franklin Moad at Clinton, Oklahoma on December 23, 1946. They lived in Weatherford, Oklahoma while Joe Frank attended pharmacy school at SWOSU and she worked in the University cafeteria. They later owned pharmacies in Hammon, Leedey, Mangum, Watonga and Cheyenne. They lived in Hammon before moving to Cheyenne in 1955 to make their home. Sylvia helped Joe Frank in the Pharmacy before working at the Roger Mills County Court House in the County Clerk office. She later became an independent Land Man, working for several different oil companies before returning to the Court House where she worked at the Election Board. After retiring, she cared for Joe Frank and was active in the GFWC Sorosis Club and the Pitch Club. Sylvia loved her family and friends in the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant daughters, Cynthia and Donna, a sister Jiggs Krober and a brother Alvis Bullard. She is survived by her children, JoBeth Moad of Oklahoma City, OK and Joe Bill Moad and wife, Paulette of Yukon, OK; four grandchildren, Kyle Wesner, Lane Wesner, Joseph Moad and Emma Moad; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family requests memorials be made to the Cheyenne Educational Foundation.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cheyenne United Methodist Church with interment in the Cheyenne Cemetery.
