Ruby Neely, 96, passed away June 6, 2012 in Edmond, OK her residence of the last 7 years. Ruby was born October 30, 1915 in Vivian, OK to Jesse and Dors Bearden. In addition to being a wife to the one man in her life, Clyde, Ruby was a fulltime homemaker and assistant for many years to her husband in his work which entailed enough for two people. Her nature was to lend a hand in whatever needed to be done. Later nature was to lend a hand in whatever needed to be done. Later in her life, she spent several years running a business and then some 20 years as a caregiver in a nursing home.
In the midst of doing whatever needed to be done, she was an avid reader of her Bible and hundreds of other books. Among the many things she enjoyed doing; she loved singing and listening to gospel music. As a follower of Jesus she used her rich alto voice to sing duets with her husband, early in their lives on radio and then often in the church.
Fifty-five of the almost 77 years of her married life was spent in Scott City, KS where her heart still was even after moving back to Oklahoma to be with her friends in that small west central town during the latter years of her life was very special to her.
Termed by her kids as a “giver,” she was willing to give you the shirt off her back if need be. That was reflected in every area of her life.
