Avis Marie Cobb was born August 26, 1924 Roger Mils County, Oklahoma to Myrtle and Rhett Davis Jones. She passed away June 5, 2012 at Rol, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 9 days.
Avis grew up in the Roll and Strong City communities. She attened schools at Breezy Meadow grade school and graduated from Crawford high schoo 1942. After graduation, she worked in Hammon at the variety store before working at Roger Mills Couty courthouse. Avis was married to Fred Murry Cobb at Sayre, Oklahoma on April 27, 1946. Avis an Fred, after their marriage, moved to the home place East of Roll, Oklhoma where they made their home. Avis was a homemaker and helped Fred on the farm for a number of years until his passing away in 2001. After his death she continued to live anc make her home there. Avis was a member of the Strong City Quting Club and enjoyed gardening and spendng time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, Tom, Chester, Ira and Hoover Jones and 1 sister Fern Keahey.
She is survied by her 2 sons, Gene Cobb, Elk City, OK and Gary Cobb and wife, Cathy, Crawford, OK; 4 grandchildren, Kari Jean Cobb, Cheyenne WY, Rhett Davis Cobb, Canyon TX, Crokett Cobb, Anchorage, AK and Glynn Werth and husband, Zach, Elk City, OK, 1 great granddaughter, Reece Avis, Cheyenne, WY; 2 sisters, Maye Cogburn, Elk City OK, Alice Shay, Lawton, OK; an a host of other relatives an friends.
Services were held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:309 pm at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Andy Taylor. Burial followed at Silent Home Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences may be made online at www.martin-duggerfuneralhome.com
