Early Schools

The information on these pages are from the book One Hundred One Schools REMEMBERED by Glen CRANE, 192 pages, published in 1983.   This book is out of print and contains each of the 101 schools, plus the Black School in 1916.  Information included are the names of teachers, school board members, and sometimes there is an interview with a student at that particular school. Salaries ranged between $50 to $85 per month prior to 1920. The book also contains the names of all of the County Superintendents, all Post Offices in Roger Mills County, and lists the County Population by decades.

The book has a painting crafted by Harold SCOTT that is owned by the E. B. SAVAGE family.
