Cantrell, Levi “Lee” Moses

Levi “Lee” Moses Cantrell was born July 24, 1925 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Lura Mae and Hubert Lester Cantrell. He passed away December 27, 2011 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 3 days.
Lee grew up in and around the Cheyenne and Sweetwater communities. He attended school at Meridian and Hammon Schools. At a young age because of his father being ill, he was required to stay home and help on the family farm. In the early 40’s he attended welding technology school in Cordell, Oklahoma. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Maine. After his discharge, he moved to Oklahom and Texas before moving to California in 1950. While in California, he worked as a welder and took up roller skating as a hobby. Lee was eventually classified a professional and coached many children and young adults in his speed club.
He was married to Esther (Marcroft) Cantrell at Las Vegas, NV on January 11, 1969. After their marriage, they moved to Houston, Texas for 8 years opening his own welding business. In 1980, Lee retired from welding. He moved to Oklahoma to make his families home and bought the Skate Palace. Lee was an outstanding father figure for many children other than his own through his maixed family and roller skating relating to teens and young adults.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter, Lauralee Cantrell, 3 sisters, Alma Mae Roberts, Las Crueta Rosas, Tressie Lee Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, of the home; daughter, Helene Brubeck, Houston, TX; son, Robert Lee Cantrell, Oklahoma City, OK; 3 step-children, Bec Hammons and husband, William, Worley, ID, Richard Gray and wife, Karen, Houston, TX, Barbie Canales, and husband, Paul, Yukon, OK; 9 grandchildren, 1 brother, Roy Dwayne Cantrell, Tucson, AZ and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held December 31, 2011 ar 1:00 pm at Cheyenne Cemetery officiated by LeRoy Musick. Burial will be at Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
