Reta Dwendlyn Graybill and her twin sister, Rena, were born on the Trail Flats, six miles noreth of Leedey, OK on April 3, 1922 to George and Lenor Weir. Reta went to be with her heavenly father on Dec. 13th, 2011 surrounded by her family. The twins were the youngest of six children. Reta lived on the farm and started school at Trail at the age of five. The folloeing summer, Reta and her family moved to Cotton Center, Texas where they lived for five years. Her family moved back to Oklahoma and she attended the sixth grade at Trail and attended there until the consolodiation with Leedey. She graduated salutatian out of thirty-one students from Leedey High School in 1940. At the age of fifteen she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and became a member of the Leedey First Baptist Church.
Reta married the love of her life, Otha Graybill, May 29, 1940 in Weatherford, OK. Otha and Reta purchased the farm that bordered the south boundary of Leedey in 1946. Otha and Reta were blessed with six children. In 1984 Otha passed away.
Reta spent the remainder of her life on the farm managing all of her personal affairs. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for seventy four years; she was always involved in the community, teaching Sunday School, and was a 4-H leader. She served at all levels in the order of the Eastern Star, and was a long time member of the Leedey Extension Homemaker Club. She was always a full time homemaker and a very accomplished seamstress and cook. Her greatest joy was to have her family around her in her home.
Reta wass preceded in death by her husband, Otha Graybill; a grandson, Dwight Graybill, and her parents, George and Lenora Weir; sisters, Gertie Dowling, Lila Wray, Cecile Hayes, and one brother Earl Weir. Her twin Rena Moore and husband Curtis are living in Wichita Falls, TX.
She is survived by son, Allen Graybill and wife, Audine of El Reno, OK; daughter, Sheila Barrick and husband, Bill, of Arapaho, OK; daughter, LaTricia Harrel and husband, Frank of Leedey, OK; son, George Graybill and wife, Laura, of Granbury, TX; son, Eddie Graybill and wife, Martha, of Weatherford, OK; daughter Twylia Keck and husband, Rod, of Fairview, OK; ten grandchildren, Greg McClure and wife, Amy of Alva, OK; Auda Trotter of Oklahoma City, OK; Brian Barrick and wife, Amy, of Cyril, OK; Brent Harrel and wife, Tahna, of Elk City, OK; Christopher Graybill and wife, Sayuri, of San Francisco, CA; Kalee Carpenter and husband Lake of Leedey, OK; Joel Graybill of Tokyo, Japan; Cody Graybill and wife, Ashley, of Ft. Worth, TX; Alden Graybill and wife, Corrie, of Bethany, OK; and Mason Keck of Fairview, OK.
She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren –Karla Trotter, Taelor McClure, Brieanna McClure, Kala Barrick, Gracelyn McClure, Hannah Barreick, Will McClure, Kaysa Carpenter, Kaden Harrel, Kya Carpenter, Owen Graybill, Brady Harrel, and Callum Graybill. She also leaves a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Leedey First Baptist Church with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family at shwfuneralhome. net.
