Martin V. Scrivner, 67 years old, died at his home near Rankin, Okla., Thursday morning, March 8, 1917. He had long been a sufferer of asthma and Thursday morning at 3 o’clock, he passed peacefully away. He leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted wife, two sons and eight brothers. His wife, Georgia, two sons: Benton F. and James L., and his brothers, Sylvester and Harry O. Scrivner were at his bedside at the time of his death.
Martin V. Scrivner was born in Estill County, Kentucky on December 31, 1849 where he resided until 1870 when he removed to Kansas where he lived for 36 years; then moved to Roger Mills County, Okla., where he lived until his death.
Funeral services were held at his home, attended by a large number of his friends; conducted by Rev. Hagermyer of Rankin; after which the remains were shipped to Elbing, Kansas for burial, accompanied by his sons and two brothers.
Martin V. Scrivner lived an honest and upright life; ever true to his ideals and he leaves a host of friends to sympathize with those who are left behind.
Grieve not bereaved ones, although he is gone, he is at rest and free from the suffering he endured so long and which he so often expressed a desire to be relieved. A Friend.
