Raymond Lee Whitson, 75 years old former Cheyenne resident, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Cheyenne Cemetert. Family and friends will meet at the Cheyenne Sr. Center at 1:45 p.m.
Raymond Lee Whitson was born on January 14, 1937 in Miller, Oklahoma to Zelno Thomas and Cora Lee (Sizemore) Whitson. He was reared in Heavener until he was 6 years of age when the family moved to Cheyeenne. Raymond graduated from Cheyenne High School with top honors. Hr was united in marrisge to Rosella Peacock in 1955. Raymond was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1955 and served his country as Crew Chief for the Stategic Air Command. He hnorably served his country until being honorably discharged in 1962.
Raymond worked in law enforcement and later was a Manager of Bell Helicopter. He was united in marriage to Lavita Habicott in 1970.
Raymond was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved everything about aircrafts.
He is survived by his son. Cody Whitson, three daughters, Katrina Whitson of Woodward. Raelene and husband Jeff of Woodward, Julie Whitson of Woodward; one brother Floyd Whitson and wife Lois of Sharon; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchidren; numerous other relatives and friends.
