Funeral services for Kenneth Sprolws will be conducted Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Koehn officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, OK under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
James Kenneth Sprowls was born June 18, 1918 at Cheyenne, OK to James S. and Vera Marie (Reed) Sprowls and passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the age of 94. He was raised on a ranch near Cheyenne and then moved with his family to Elk City where he graduated from Elk City High School in 1935. He was married to Constance Arthurene Bruton on August 29, 1936 in Elk City and they had just celebrated their 76th wedding anniversay. Mr. Sprowls owned and operated an auto dealershp and then a package store. He served on several boards in the Elk City area and took a special interesdt in HELP and also giving tours through the museum’s “Big Barn”. They were very active in the United Methodist Church in Elk City until 2008 when they moved to Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in deasth by his parents, a sister, Jesse Mae Wood, and 2 brothers, Vance Sprowls and Robert “Bob” Sprowls.
Survivors include his wife: Constance Arthurene Sprowls of Oklahoma City, a daughter, Sharon Reed and her husband John of Oklahoma City, a granddaughter, Rhonda Clure and her husband Gregory of Thousand Oaks, CA, a grandson, Richard Reed and his wife Sherry of Pierce City, Missouri, great granddaughter, Megan Clure of Thousand Oaks, CA, a brother, John Ll. Sprowls and his wife Harriett of Dallas, TX, 2 sistersin-law, Marver Weaver of Oklahoma City, Frances Palmeeter Sprowls of Amarillo, TX and many other family and friends.
