Jose “Joe” Antonio Barela, 41, of Canute, Oklahoma was born on January 29, 1974, in Stroud, Oklahoma just two minutes behind is identical twin Bub Barela. He is the son of Carlos Samuel Barela and Terry Dale Harrell (Sallee). Joe passed away on March 30, 2015, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved to Leedey, Oklahoma in 1981 when his mother, Terry married Lee Blackketter. Joe graduated from Leedey High School Class of 1992. After high school, Joe went to work for the Leedey Coop and then went on to pursue his welding career in the oilfield. On June 4, 2000 he had a daughter, Katy Jo Barela. Joe enjoyed hunting fishing, playing softball and being in the pool league. He could always be found doing things outdoors and playing with his dog, “Buster”. His favorite thing to do was to get everybody stuck in the mud!
Joe is survived by daughter, Katy Jo Barela, Elk City, Oklahoma; mother, Terry Dale Harrell and her husband, Dale of Canute, Oklahoma; dad, Lee Blackketter and his wife, Donita of Leedey, Oklahoma; identical twin brother, Bub Barela and his wife, Tina of Canute, Oklahoma; two nephews, Kyle Beals and Sammy Barela both of Canute, Oklahoma; one niece, Shania Beals of Canute, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles.
