Sonja Beaird, 58 passed away on July 31, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Sonja was born April 2, 1954 in Kingsville, Texas. She was married 28 years to her husband Eric Beaird. She was raised in Cubero, New Mexico. As a child she walked the Mesas. She rode horseback to water canyon and would steal little green apples from the orchard. Sonja attended Boarding School in St. Michaels, Arizona. Her hobbies included quilting, four-wheeling, and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Xavier Farias, father, Heron Farias.
Survivors include husband, Eric Beaird, her sons, Pat Salazar, wife Julie of Cuberom, NM, Carl T. Ellis of Jal, NM, Stepson; Kelton Beaird of Midland, TX, Stepdaughter, Sabrah Beaird of Midland, TX. Granddaughter, Bailee Everet of Mason, TX “The Joy of Her Life”. Niece; Marena Sonja Lucero of Cuberto, NM her name sake. Mother; Carmen Salazar, Stepfather, Armenlino Salazar of Carbero, NM. Brothers: David Salazar and Ron Weese of Abrequerqure, NM. Sisters: Cindy Hinojosa and husband Danny of Alice, TX. Monica Salazar and husaband Apolonio Lucero of Cubero, NM, Veronica Fank and husband Jason of Grants, NM, Belinda Farias of Houston, TX, Johana Froschauer and husband Joseph of Sumit, NJ. and seven grandcildren, and thriteen nieces and nephews.
