Funeral services for Howard Black will be conducted Thursday, September 16 2010 at 11 a.m. from he First Baptist Church of Elk City with Rev. Doc Ware officiating. Interment will be in the Berlin Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.

Howard Leon “Man” Black was born March 20, 1930 at Clovis, New Mexico to John William and Nettie Celeste (Lee) Black and passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the age of 80.
He was raised in New Mexico, Texas and California before coming to Oklahoma in 1950 while working for Schlumberger Oilfield.
He was married to Jean Tosh on April 1, 1950.
They moved to Wyoming and in 1962 returned to Berlin, Oklahoma where he started dairy farming which he pursued until 1990.
He worked for the Cooper West Agency for some 3 years before retirement. Howars was a member of the Dairy Association and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Elk City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Black of Elk City, 5 children, Randy French and his wife Kelli of Columbus, Ohio, Terry French and his wife Betty of Sayre, Kay Higgins and her husband Mike of Elk City, Vicki Bishop and her husband Phil of Elk City and Howard “Butch” Black Jr. and his wife Jacquie of Elk City, 22 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 1 brother, Jess Black and his wife Marie of Burns Flat.
