James William Bonner was born in Lamoni, Iowa, July 15, 1874 and departed this life at his home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma March 13, 1952 at the age of 77 years, seven months and 26 days, after an illness of three weeks. He came to Oklahoma in 1895 and on September 11, 1903, he was united in marriage to Nancy V. Kelley at Berlin, Oklahoma and to this union were born twelve children. Four have preceded him in death. Those surviving are his wife, Nancy V. Bonner, five sons, Arthur of Clinton, OK; Otis of Gentry, Ark; James of Elk City, OK; Louis stationed at Camp Polk, LA and Kenneth stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Three daughters Mrs. Bessie Shay of Sayre, OK; Della Mary Gaines of Cheyenne: Eula Hayden, also of Cheyenne. Fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. He also left two brothers, John of Rodeo, CA; Melvin of Raton, NM; two sisters: Minnie Bent of Wamego, KS; and Rena Kelley of Yakima, WA; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He was baptized into the Church of Christ in October 1913, and lived a devoted Christian life. He was a loving husband and father and was liked by all who knew him. Interment in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills Co., OK.
