BURKS, Peggy Darlene

Peggy Burks was born December 1, 1959 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Thelma and Guy Baker. She passed away April 29, 2015 at her home near Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 55 years, four months and 28 days.
Peggy was raised on the family farm five miles south of Crawford, OK. She attended school at Crawford and later graduated from Cheyenne High School. She continued her education in Oklahoma City and earned her degree in Information Technology. Peggy was employed with Computer Solutions for a few years. After her father passed away in 1986, she returned to western Oklahoma to be near her family. She was married to Jerry Burks at Sayre, Oklahoma on June 4, 1992 and they made their home north of Reydon. Peggy was employed with Heritage Savings and Loan and Roger Mills Home Healthcare for several years. She loved gardening, sewing and cooking for her family and friends. Her greatest passion was being with her family and she especially treasured time with her new grandson, Wiley.
Peggy was an active member of the Reydon First Baptist Church where she served as the Secretary.
She was preceded in death by her father, maternal grandmother, Ethel Sadler and a nephew, J.D. Wright.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Burks, of the home; two daughters, Heather Shaw and husband Taylor, Durham, OK and Elisabeth Burks, Reydon, OK; a grandson, Wiley Shaw; her mother Thelma Baker, Crawford, OK; three sisters, Jackie Martin, Cheyenne, OK; Wilma Moler and husband Dick, Cheyenne, OK and Patty Wright and husband “brother”, David, Reydon, OK; a brother, Guy Baker and wife, Iris, Leedey, OK; three nieces, six nephews, four great nieces, seven great nephews, a great great niece and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held May 2, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Reydon Community Building officiated by Dr. Ron Henning and Bro. Curtis Patrick. Burial will be at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
