Dr. Frank Kendrick Buster was born September 20, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to Chloe and Karl Buster. He passed away November 27, 2011 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 7days.
Dr. Buster grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He did his undergraduate work at Southern Methodist University and later graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas with his MD. His father Karl had always told him he’d be a doctor and as he would always say, “He obeyed!” He interned at the University Hospital in Oklahoma City where he met a young nursing student, Martha Wallace that became his bride at a relative home in Oklahoma City. He moved to Erick, Oklahoma where he practiced before moving to Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1951 where he practiced until his retirement 53 years later. Dr. Buster was Roger Mills County only doctor for a number of years. He was not only the counties doctor but an avid supporter and friend to all.
He was married to Mary Rebecca McConnell Baker at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 4, 1981. Dr. Buster was a teacher at heart and loved sharing his knowledge. He loved to travel and was an avid cook.
He was one of the founding members of the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Cheyenne Masonic Lodge.
He was a member of the Cheyenne United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, 1 brother, Jack and 1 nephew, Larry Buster.
Survived by his wife, Becky, of the home; Mother-In-Law, Ruby McConnell, St. Petersburg, FL; 3 Sisters-in-law, Patricia Bohning and husband, and USNR Cmdr. Lee Robert, Gulfport, FL, and Lil Camp and husband, John, Mustang, OK; and Janice Bckham McCoy and husband, Mac, Edmond, OK; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friendcs.
Services will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Cheyenne School auditorium officiated by Greg Keith. Burial will be at Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chap;el Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
