Lee Edward Carter, 95 of Dill City, Oklahoma was born on July 1,1919, in Canute, Oklahoma. He is the son of Marvin Mather and Dora Grace (Goodwin) Carter. Lee passed away on March 30, 2015 at the Bellevue Health and Rehab in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Canute High School class of 1937. Lee married his high school sweetheart, Helen Ruth Gowdy on December 24, 1937 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1995.
Lee enjoyed trading guns, hunting and fishing but most of all he enjoyed storytelling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the National Rifleman’s Association.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Lee is survived by his daughter, Jean McKeever of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lora McKeever of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Chris McKeever and his wife, Tammy of Edmond, Oklahoma, Mark McKeever and his wife, Glenda of Friendswood, Texas; great-grandchildren, Monique McKeever of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kenzie McKeever and Jacob Bradley both of Friendswood, Texas; sister, Mary Swint of Walnut Creek, California.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Louise Carter; parents, Marvin and Dora Carter; brothers, Al Hastings and Glen Carter; sister, Gladys Anderson.
