Memorial services for Beverly Jan Chandler were conducted Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. from the Elk City Community Church with Pastor Judy Timms officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery of Weathercford.
Beverly “Jan” Chandler was born on October 10, 1938 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to Vernell (Allen) and Carl W. Miller, and passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the age of 72. Several years later the family moved to Cheyenne, OK where Jan met the love of her life, Dudley Chandler. They were married for 47 years. Being a military family led to an adventurous and exciting time in Jan’s life. While stationed in Turkey they were able to explore Europe. Jan being the fun loving and curious person she decided to take belly dancing classes and she was good at it. She always made the best of every situation and made it fun.
Jan and Dudley had four children, a daughter and three sons. Jan lived for her children and always put them first. For the last ten years, Jan has lived with her sister Kay in Elk City. With her other sisters, Nancy in Sayre and Judy in Frisco, Texas, being so close there were many fun sister trips and birthday celebrations. One of Jan’s greatest gifting was caring for the elderly. She truly loved those she tended to and they loved her. Jan attdended the Elk City Community church and rededicated her life to the Lord three weeks ago and was baptized last Sunday. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Vernell Miller and her brother Bill Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Sherman and husband Bill of San Antonio, Texas, sons Gus Chandler of Burkburnett, TX, Sam Chandler and wife Pam of Fairfax, VA, and Rusty Chandler of Amarillo, TX. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sisters, Kay Farmer of Elk City, OK, Judy Crosby and husband John of Frisco, TX and Nancy Miller of Sayre, OK, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and co workers.
