Clifft, Jimmie Joe

Jimmie Joe Clifft was born March 8, 1934 in Hammon, Oklahoma to Grace Alice and Edward A. Clifft. He passed away December 23, 2011 at Hammon, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 15 days.
Jimmie grew up in the Hammon community graduating from Hammon high school in 1952. He remained in the Hammon area after graduation working on the family farm until he was drafted into thre United States Army where he was stationed in El Paso, Texas. After his discharge, he was married to Mary Ann (Castleberry) Clifft at Cordell, Oklahoma on January 13, 1963. Jimmie and Mary moved back to Hammon and began their lives together on the Clifft family homestead. In the late 70’s Jimmie took a college course on dog training at Redlands Community College so he could train boarder collies to help him with his cattle. Jimmie enjoyed restoring old Volkswagens and won best of show in the Tulsa car show along with gardening and yard work. He was also a member of 2nd and Adams Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother, 1 niece and 2 nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; 1 daughter, Dawn Addington and husband, Jackie, Elk City, OK; 2 grandsons, Colter and Conner Addington, both of Elk City, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, December 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Second and Adams Church of Christ officiated by Tom Harguess. Burial followed at Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, OK under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
