Geneece Cook
Geneece grew up in Snakey Bend and attended school at Crawford until her freshman year of high school when she transferred to Cheyenne and graduated in 1964. After graduation, she furthered her education at the Oklahoma School of Banking and Business in Oklahoma City. Geneece completed her courses and worked at a bank in Oklahoma City until 1977 when she began working at the Roger Mills Courthouse. She was married to Ronnie Buford Cook at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on December 2, 1977. They made their home in Cheyenne and Geneece was appointed as the Roger Mills Court Clerk in 1991 and served until her retirement in 2008. When Geneece retired she continued caring for her mother and husband until their passing and spoiled her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her yard, going to her grandchildren’s sporting activities and being active with her Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rusty and Ellon Ellis; husband of 37 years, Ronnie Cook and 1 sister, Phyllis Ruth Ellis.
She is survived by her five children, Shelley Lindberg, Cheyenne, OK, Tonja Young and husband, Carlos, Cheyenne, OK, Tom Cook and wife, RaNita, Amarillo, TX, Travis Cook and wife, Marcie, Canyon, TX and Dusti Kirk and husband, Calvin, Cheyenne, OK; 10 grandchildren, Jordan, Derek, Tiffany, Ethan, Britton, Parker, Cody, Tyler, Conner and Caleb; 7 great grandchildren, Neveah, Delvin, Kaiden, Dreyson, Isabella, Leilanie and Anzlie; 1 sister, Linda Maddux and husband, James, Cheyenne, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
