Jesse James Darby, 90, of Hammon, Oklahoma was born on July 20, 1924 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. He is the son of John Darby and Mary (Scrykels) Darby Massey. Jesse went to be with his heavenly father on July 19, 2015 at Clinton, Oklahoma. He moved to New Mexico as a child, he lived in Grants and the surrounding area. He served in the United States Army in World War II from Dec 8, 1943 to Jan 22, 1946. He was a private first class/paratrooper in the Company E 325 Glider Infantry. He had numerous jobs including working at the family sawmill; he served as a fireman in Grants New Mexico, he was a mechanic for many years. He worked at Anderson Development Company, Red Rock Mesa Transportation and Ferris Mining Company In 1985 he moved with his second wife, Lillie Moore Darby to Hammon, Oklahoma where he worked for Roger Mills County until he retired. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon, Oklahoma. Kenneth Gamble will officiate. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Jesse is survived by his children, Mel Darby, James Darby and his wife, Debra June, Lilly Ramsey, Debra Mae Darby, Estlee Dominguez and her husband, Billy, Donna Elkins and her husband, Jody, Jake Darby and his wife, Loren, his brother, Johnny Darby and his wife, Pat, his sister, Mary Jo Whiteside and her husband, Frank, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews and great friends, George and Gracie Swinford. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Lillie Moore Darby, his former wife, Margie Darby Hill, one son Jason Oliver, and one great grandson, Jessie Quaid Darby. His parents, John Darby and Mary Massey, brothers, Robert Darby and Lloyd Massey, and sisters, Virginia Phillips, Lucille Outlaw.
