Funeral services for Claude Ira Douglas, 93, Lawton were held Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Dawson, Associate Pastor, First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Douglas died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Lawton. Burial followed in the Veterans Field of Honor at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Claude Ira Douglas was born September 12, 1918 in Reydon, Oklahoma, to Claude S. and Velma Thomas (Durham) Douglas. He grew up in Reydon where he graduated high school. He married Ruby Berry on May 7, 1940 in Arnett, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. At the time of his retirement he was the assistant postmaster in Placentia, California.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son and daughter in law, Michael and Jeannie Douglas, Thousand Oaks, California; a daughter and son in law, Brenda and Tom Logan, Indiahoma, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one unborn great grandson.
A brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
