Mahlon Lee “Jack” Driver was born March 18, 1941 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Mary Ann and Joe Cephas Driver. He passed away May 17, 2012 at Edmond, Oklahoma at the ageof 71 years, 1 month and 29 days.
Jack grew up in the Herring and the Hammon communities. During his school years, Jack excelled on the basketball court. After graduation in 1959, he began working for the county of Roger Mills operating heavy equipment until 1963 when he entered the United States Army. Jack served his country during the Vietnam era. In 1997 Jack met Patricia Nell Harrison at a senior dance and they were later married at Reydon, Oklahoma on February 14, 1998. After their marriage, Jack found a new hobby and began taking square dancing lessons. Jack and Patty made their home in Reydon until 2003 when they moved to Elk City. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing basketball, horse racing, attending rodeos and playhing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Patty, of the home; son, Scott Driver and wife, Belinda, Custer City, OK; 2 step daughters, Lisa Hill and husband, Freddie, Elk City, OK and Sue Barett, Folsom, CA; his mother, Mary Ann Driver, Elk City, OK; 3 grandsons, Robert Driver, Scott Driver, Jr. and Joseph Driver; 5 step grandchildren, Brock Walker, Blake Walker, Tres Hill, Caitlin Barett and Brendon Barett; 1 great grandson, Bryson Creed Driver; 1 brother, Ronnie Driver and wife, Sandy, Elk City, OK; 2 sisters, Paulette Walker and husband, Kenny and Rita Dodd and husband, Jim, both of Hammon, OK; 2 nieces, Rhonda Kay Smith and husband, Keith and Elizabeth Goodman and husband, Scott, 3 nephews, Bryan Walker and wife, Lynn, Justin Walker and wife, Starla an Josh Dodd and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:00 am at Community Fellowship Assembly of God officiated by Dolan Ivy. Burial followed at Red Hill Cemetery under the dirction of Whineryp-Savage Funeral Service.
