Mary Elizabeth Meador was born at Gibtown, Texas, October 16, 1851. Was married to Benjamin F. Dudney September 5, 1872 at Corsicana, Texas, died at her home west of town Sunday, May 19, 1912.
“Smooth the locks of silver hair, On our mother’s brow with tendest care.
Gather the robed in final fo’d, Around the form so still and cold,
Lay on her bosom, pure as snow, The fairest, sweetest flowers that grow.
Kiss her and leave her our hearts delight; her pain is over she sleeps tonight.”
After a long, busy and usedul life she died as she had lived–honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was completed if work all done and well done constitutes completion.
She was a member of the Christian Church and her life was beautiful from its beginning to its close and though all the vcissitudes and sorrows that she met in the way, her faith in God never wavered.
She was the mother of two chioldren, Joe and Lee. The former was laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery about ten years ago. Her husband also was called home during the same year. Lee her youngesy son the only survivor of the family lives on his farm in the Redmoon vicinity. The Star with his many friends wafts to him and his condolents in this sad hour.
The funeral ceremony was conducted by Rev. W.C. Morris, Monday at the Cheyenne Cemetery where the remains were laid in the silent tomb.
