DYKES, Kendred Wesley

Kendred Wesley Dykes, 84, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on February 21, 1931 in Herring, Oklahoma. He is the son of John Wesley and Gladys Domingo (Chapman) Dykes. Kendred passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Elkwood Assisted Living Center, Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Kendred served his country in the United States Air Force serving a tour in Korea. He married Vernell Williams on January 7, 1956 and to this union his two children, Dana and Kenny were born. He then married Karen V. Stafford on February 13, 1978. Karen preceded him in death on May 12, 2003.
He enjoyed team roping, gardening and messing around with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Andy Taylor will officiate, Rev. David Worsham will assist. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, Elk City, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana White and her husband, David of Palestine, Texas; three grandchildren, Chanda Wilder and her husband, Artty of Garfield, Kansas, Donna Smith of Larned Kansas, Lee Missildine and his wife, Tiffany of Normangee, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Ashly Wilder of Great Bend, Kansas, Cori Wilder and Donovan Wilder both of Garfield, Kansas, John Smith Jr. of Larned, Kansas, Regan Missildine of Huntsville, Texas, Paden Mizzel of Normangee, Texas; sister, Susie Reid of Elk City, Oklahoma; niece, Regina Fleming and her husband, Rusty of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-nephew, Austin Fleming of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-niece, Tiffany Pierce of Sana Fe, New Mexico.
Kendred is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Dykes, son, Kenny Wayne Dykes and parents, John and Gladys Dykes.
