Adam Wade Ferrell was born November 29th, 1983 in Elk City, Oklahoma to parents Eldon Leo Ferrell and Dixie Lee Ferrell of Leedey, Oklahoma. Adam went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2015.
Adam attended elementary, junior high and high school at Leedey. While in school, he passionately pursued work in 4-H, FFA and Academic Bowl, achieving Outstanding Junior Member and Hall of Fame recognition in Roger Mills County 4-H and the rank of State Farmer in the National FFA Organization before his graduation from Leedey High School in 2002. He then attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 2006 with a degree in agronomy and accumulating a number of student honors while simultaneously financing his education through diligent work for a number of area farmers and ranchers.
Upon his graduation, he had worked for some of the largest companies in the crop consulting and crop insurance firms in the nation. Even while working full-time in this role, he still found time for pro bono crop consulting work to help struggling farmers turn their operations around.
In 2008, Adam was able to fulfill his dream of returning to western Oklahoma to help operate his family’s farm and ranch. The operation flourished with his return, expanding as far west as Follett, Texas and as far east as Creek County, Oklahoma. A passionate and progressive farmer and rancher, he continually innovated in his production and marketing practices to grow a prosperous and growing cattle business. Adam accepted Jesus as his Savior as a young teenager.
Adam is survived by his parents, Eldon and Dixie Ferrell of Leedey, Oklahoma, his grandmothers Arlita Ferrell of Hennessey, Oklahoma and Betty Clem of Leedey, Oklahoma; his brother Shannon , wife Cara and their son – Adam’s nephew – Shawn Ferrell of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Nathan Ferrell and wife Heather of Midland, Texas; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Family and friends will forever remember him for his incredible work ethic, common sense, intelligence, true heart for agriculture and his constant sense of humor. He was an authentic gentleman with a loving, ever-present cowboy smile.
