Virginia Fowler, 83, of Amarillo, Texas passed away Monday, January 5, 2015. Services were held Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Gumfory and Tyson Woble officiating. Burial was held at Mulberry Cemetery in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, Amarillo, Texas.
Virginia was born October 16, 1931 in Erick, Oklahoma to Walter and Eunice Hobbs Reed. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Fowler, on July 17, 1948 in Wheeler, Texas.
Virginia became a Christian at age of 18, she was saved and she loved the Lord Jesus ever since. She attended church all her life. Her greatest desire was to lead others to Jesus Christ. Virginia made fourteen overseas mission trips. She also took many mission trips to other churches in the USA.
Virginia was employed as the Sears catalog manager for eighteen years. She was a member of TEE Club of Randall County, a Sunday School worker, a City Church worker and a participant in the International Commission. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dorothy Hanna and Fran Webster.
Survivors include her husband, her daughters, Connie Adkison of Mansfield, Sandra Gumfory of Gruver and Jan Cook of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Merle Neill of Edmond, Oklahoma and Faye DeVillis of Farmington, New Mexico; and a brother M.J.Reed of Amarillo, Texas.
The family suggests memorials be to City Church, 305 South Polk Street, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
