Hardin, Roberta “Bert” Adams

Roberta “Bert” Hardin was born May 3, 1945 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Bertha Margaret and Ellis Euriagh Adams. She passed away February 23, 2012 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 20 days.
Bert grew up in Clinton, Oklahoma and Canadian, Texas. She began her family at an early age while doing bookkeeping at Oasis Truck Stop. In the 70’s she was a dispatcher for Canadian Sheriff Department until she began writing bailsbonds in the tri-county area. Bert was married to Charles Travis Hardin at Canadian on November 7, 1980. After their marriage they remained in Canadian until 1986 when they moved to Foss where they operated Foss Lake Marina. In 1991 they moved to Elk City where they made their home and managed the Super 8 motel for several years until ill health forced her retirement. Bert enjoyed fishing and camping but her passion in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an active member of Elk City Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Rodney Leon Dawson and Clinton Eugene Wright, 2 brothers, Dean Adams and Nolan Adams, 3 step brothers, George Perrin, Robert Porter and Michael Porter.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie, of the home; 5 children, Rhonda Boyd and husband, Leon, Ballentine, SC, Becky Helton and husband, Clem, Briscoe, TX, Terrel Hardin and wife, Debbie, Canadian, TX, Tim Hardin and wife, Trish, Amarillo, TX, Ty Hardin and wife, Tyna, Oklahoma City, OK, 11 grandchildren, Ronnie, Jon, George, Tianna, Rozena, Brandon, Aaron, Cody, Callie, Caden, Cannon; 4 great grandchildren Zoe, Malachi, Kamdon, Shawn Patrick; 2 brothers, George Adams and wife, Sandy, Austin, TX, Eddie Adams and wife, Joan, Farmington, CA; 1 sister, Marie Wilson and husband Bob, Elk City, OK; 8 step-sisters, Ida Swanson, Peggy Miller, Mary Jo Languell, Debbie Clark, Donna Hamel, Poly Chaffin, Diane Hornsby, Marcia Back, 3 sister-in-law, Novie Jean Adams, Maxine Adams, and Vonnie Adams, and a host of other relatives and frie1nds.
The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Whinery-Savage Chapel. Burial will be at Pie Flat Cemetery, Roger Mills County, OK under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com.
