HILLMAN, Minnie V.

Minnie V, Hillman was born August 16, 1917 in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma to Lida and Alpha Thomas Leddy. She passed away March 29, 2016 at Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years, 7 months and 13 days.

Minnie grew up in the Red Hills north of Cheyenne on the banks of the Canadian River and attended school at Red Star. At the age of 17, she was married to Clarence Hillman on December 24, 1934 in Cheyenne and they remained in the Roger Mills County area until moving to the Fred Hillman home place in 1947 to make their home. She lived on the home place until 2013 when she moved to Yukon to be near her son. For many years, Minnie was the Roll Community News Reporter for the Cheyenne Star, Sayre Journal and the Elk City Daily News. She was a member of the Roll Quilting Club and a longtime member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grand daughter, Starlette Jean Flores, 8 siblings and a son-in-law, Phil York.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Hillman and wife, Maurine, of Yukon, OK; a daughter, Darlene York, of Durham, OK; 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at the Magnolia Baptist Church, Crawford, OK on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with interment in Silent Home Cemetery
