Charles Harrison Hughes passed away May 4, 2012 at Coffey County Medical Center in Burlington, Kansas, he was 63. Butch was born November 11, 1948 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Charles Harrison Hughes and Lorraine (Koenig) Hughes.
Butch and his family moved to Yates Center, Kansas from Garnett, Kansas in 1953. After they move Butch attended Yates Center School and graduated from Yates Center High School.
Hard work was important to Butch, he put his all into everything he did. He enjoyed helping anyone that he could and faithfully worked for Gaulding Oil Company for nearly 40 years. Butch enjoyed talking to people and especially liked kids and cats. He liked to cruise around in a nice car as he went out to eat. A favorite pastime was watching TV and napping in his recliner. He scheduled his yearly vacation to conincide with the Oklahoma State Fair where he attended tractor pulls and car races with his sister Audra and talked to everyone he encountered.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law George Winburn.
He leaves one sister, Audra (Hughes) Winburn of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, his aunt Elaine Horsch, cousins Janice Sorenson, Sharon Summers and Ardis Strieby and many other friends.
Services were held May 8, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Yates Center, Kansas. Burial followed at Yates Center Cemetery.
