Funeral services for Ora Lee Laswell, 90, former Clinton resident, were scheduled for 10 a.m. today in the Red Star Brethren in Christ Church at Leedey with her son-in-law, Rev. David Worsham, officiating.
Ora Lee (Basler) Laswell was born December 6, 1920, in Leedey, Oklahoma, daughter of Lawrence Pete Basler and Mable Gertrude (Singer) Basler. She died Monday, December 20, 2010, at the Bell Avenue Nursing Home in Elk City.
Reared in Leedey, she attended school there and married Bert Holden Laswell in October of 1948 at Wheeler, Texas.
They made their home in Thomas before moving to Colorado. They returned to Oklahoma, making their home in Weatherford, before settling in Clinton in 1967. Her husband preceded her in death in 1970.
She started her working career doing domestic work at the Tradewinds Motel, Clinton Regional Hospital and Holiday Inn.
She had been a Bell Avenue resident for the past 10 years.
Also preceding her in death were infant twin sons and a son, Douglas Laswell; a daughter, Janie Worsham; seven sisters; and two brothers.
Burial will be in the Red Star Cemetery at Leedey, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
Survivers include a daughter, Pat Smith and her husband, Virgil of Clinton; a son-in-law David Worsham of Elk City; a daughter-in-law, Pam Laswell-Misner of Burns Flat; six grandchildren, Virgil Smith Jr. and his wife, Cindy, Crystal Snider and her husband, Brad, Rachel Worsham, Sarah Worsham, Debbie Laswell and Carrie Hutchins; and three great grandchildren.
