Long, Marie Dean

Marie Long was born December 4, 1919 in Hammon, Oklahoma to Retta Emily and James Bernice Dean. She passed away December 2, 2011 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Marie grew up on a farm and attended school at Hammon, Oklahoma. During her senior year she wasz married to Earl J. Long at Bammon, Oklahoma on November 30, 1937. After their marriage, they rented a farm on the Washita river until 1941 when they bought the homeplace 4 miles east of Hammon. They continued to farm wheat, cotton and also raised cattle until 1982 when Earl’s health began to decline. After Earl’s death in 1983, she continued to live on the farm until 2004 when she moved to Oklahoam City to be closer to her daughter. Marie’s passion was reading westerns and growing flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Earl D. Long and 5 brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Craighead, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Murriel Long, Oklahoma City, OK; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held, December 6, 2011 until service time.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Whinery-Savage Chapel with Kendell Hamilton officiating. Burial will be at Butler Cemetery.
