LOWRY, J.R.

Funeral services for J.R. Lowry were held Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 2 p.m. at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
J.R. Lowry was born August 28, 1918 in Rockwall, Texas to Clettie and Ernest Wayne Lowry. He died May 23, 2014 in Clinton at the age of 95 years, 8 months and 25 days. A graveside service was held at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon, Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 27th at 2 p.m.
J.R. moved with his family to the Herring community as a child. Then the family moved into the Hammon area. He married Minnie Packard and they made their home in Hammon where J.R. was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad. He held several positions including Machine Operator, Trackman, Foreman and Road Master and retired after 43 years of service. Minnie passed away in 1979 and he later married Dorrace Mize and they made their home in Clinton. J.R. was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps and served his country during World War II.
In addition to his wife, Minnie, he was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, a brother, Wayne, and a sister, Jewel Troxel.
He is survived by his wife, Dorrace; a daughter, Pat Klaassen and husband, Clarence of Colorado; a son, Robert Lowry and wife, Cindy, of Texas, three stepchildren, Cheryl Essary of Oklahoma, Dana Mize of Oklahoma and Roger Mize and wife, Helen, of Texas; five grandchildren, Lynn and husband, Jeff of Washington, Kenneth of Colorado, Patsy of Oklahoma, Leah of Oklahoma and Nicole of Oklahoma; several great grandchildren, two sisters, Florence Dameron of Oklahoma, Doris Wood of Colorado and a host of other relatives and friends.
