Services for Mrs. C.F. Maddux were held Thursday, November 28, 1957, Thanksgiving Day. Mrs. Maddux died at Seligman, Arizona on the train in route home from California. She had been critically ill, suffering from cancer for the past six months. For the past six weeks, she had been visiting her two daughters in California.
Ruby L. Payne was born May 18, 1906 and has spent her life in Cheyenne.
Immediate survivors are C.F. Maddux of Cheyenne, her husband; two daughters, Lavone (Mrs. Bob Dobry), and Lanita both of Los Angeles, California, and an eleven day old grandson, one sister, Elsie Gertrude Plunkett, Houston, Texas and three brothers, Willie, Edgewood, California; Roy, Saratoga, California; and Richard, Sacramento, California, and her mother, Mrs. Elsie Payne of Cheyenne.
Services were in the Methodist Church, Rev. Brodace Elkins, Tulsa, preached the sermon. Rev. Gerald Main, pastor of the church assisted with the services.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Platonic Club and other organizations.
Committal was in the Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Scroggins Funeral Home.
