Malson, D.A.

D.A. Malson was born on August 23, 1938 in Roger Mills County, OK to Doyle and Virginia Malson. He moved to Amarillo as a child where he attended University Church of Christ in Canyon. D.A. married Betty Battenfield on September 2, 1955 in Amarillo. He was a contractor building over 300 fine homes throughout Amarillo. D.A. began his career in the construction field in high school, starting employment with Reid Strickland. He then worked for Lester Moffett Construction. He took great pride in the job that he did and was known to be a perfectionist in his projects. He was a member of The Texas Builders Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Malson of Amarillo; son, Matthew Doyle Malson and wife Tonya of Hickory, NC; daughter, Dennise Cranmer of Canyon; 4 grandchildren, Jason Cranmer of Canyon, Lindsey Bussey and husband Loren of Amarillo, Jacob Cranmer and wife Mandi of Gruver and Madison Malson of Hickory, NC; sister, Janice Malson of Amarillo and 3 great grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Bussey and Cole Cranmer.
Services were held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Durham Church of Christ with Dolan Ivey and Cuck Milner officiating. Burial followed at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Oklahoma under the direction of LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Chapel in Amarillo, Texas.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to John Hopkins, 707 N. Broadway, Baltimore, MA in care of Kim Hollandsworth Adrenoleukodystrophy Research for the Cole Wade Cranmer benefit researd fund.
