MAXON, Robert H. “Bob”

Robert H. “Bob” Maxon, 89, of Cashion, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Kingfisher after a short illness. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Cashion Christian Church, with burial at Cashion Cemetery under the care of Sanders Funeral Home, Kingfisher.
Maxon was born to William C. and Myrtle Rice Maxon at the family’s homestead southwest of Cashion on July 31, 1025. He attended schools in Piedmont, Hammon and Cashion and graduated from Cashion High School in 1943. He served on the destroyer USS Bullard in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
At age 15, he traveled to western Oklahoma to spend a half year taking care of his family’s cattle ranch and attend school in Hammon.
While there, he met 15 year old Ruby Haigood of Cheyenne. After he finished his service in the Navy, they were married on October 13, 1946 at First Christian Church in Kingfisher and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in 2014.
They settled in the Cashion area where they operated a wheat and cattle farm, as well as a dairy farm between 1964 and 1971. He retired from farming in 2006. He was a life-long member of Cashion Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tommy and Tommy’s wife, Jacqueline; and his sister, Mildred Farrell. He is survived by wife Ruby, of the home; daughter, Diana Fowler and husband Jack Fowler, of Cashion; two sons, Gary Maxon and wife Deborah, of Moore; and Terry Maxon and wife Jannett, of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Donald of Cashion and William H. Maxon and wife Mabel, of Peculiar, MO; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
