MAYFIELD, Robert William "Bob"

Robert William “Bob” Mayfield was born February 6, 1940 and left this earth on August 25, 2015 to be with his Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Mobeetie with Tom Striblins officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel.
He was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Joseph William and Dora Emma (Evans) Mayfield. He attended school in Cheyenne and graduated in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 serving six years, the last two years of service spent in Germany. After his military service he returned to Oklahoma where he met Susan Marie Sorensen. They married on August 4, 1968 and had three sons.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He was an avid reader and was interested in astronomy and space exploration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William and Emma Ruth; three brothers, Ralph, Albert and Kenneth; brother-in-law Buck Williams and fathers-in-law Lewis Orthman and Gaylen Sorensen.
He is survived by his wife Susan, of the home, three sons Todd and wife Lori of Houston; Jeff and wife Danielle of Pampa; Tim and wife Jennifer of Charleston, S.C., one brother Clifton and wife Mary of Tucumcari, NM, sister Ollie Ruth Williams of Wister, OK., mother-in-law Carol Orthman of Dumas, two brothers-in-law, Keith Sorensen of Dumas and Joe Orthman of Enid, Oklahoma, three sisters-in-law Shannon Pool of Dumas, Doreen Mayfield of Arnett, Oklahoma, Leona Faye Mayfield of Clovis, NM, Lou(Barb) Orthman of Charleston, SC, eight grandchildren, Michael of Moore, OK, Harley of Stephenville, TX, Brianna of Watonga OK, Rachel of Ft. Worth, TX, Leah of Austin TX, Erica, Jayden, Kourtney, all of Charleston, SC; six great-grandchildren and one on the way, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
The family will be at 2370 Beech Lane, Pampa, Texas, Thursday August 27 and Friday August 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m. The viewing will be held before the memorial service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mobeetie,TX
