Merle Elizabeth McCamon was born June 30, 1903 in Berlin, Oklahoma Territory to Annie Elizabeth and Alonzo Alvin Addis and passed away July 6, 1997 in her home at the age of 94 years and 6 days. Merle attended school at Belmont and married Edgar Vivan McCamon on September 2, 1919 in Sayre, OK. They lived in the Berlin community where Edgar farmed and they raised their family. After Edgar passed away, Merle moved into Sayre in 1965 and in 1993 she moved to Elk City to make her home. Merle had received her 50 year pin in the County Extension Club and was a member of the Berlin Quilting and Community Clubs. She had been a long time member of the Berlin Methodist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir. After they closed she moved her membership to the Elk City United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sons, Dale Ray, Melvin and Alonzo, 1 daughter, Eula Martin, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She is survived by 2 sons, Glen McCamon and his wife, Valeria of Elk City, OK, Bill McCamon of Amarillo, TX; 4 daughters, Anna Lee Kirk of Texhoma, OK, Helen Cannon and her husband, Johnny of Cheyenne, OK, Ruth Montgomery and her husband, Bill of Las Cruces, NM, Sue Weaver and her husband, Joe of Holcomb, KS; 1 sister, Neva Merrifield of Sayre, OK; 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Interment in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
