Moad, James Quentin

James Quentin Moad was born July 25, 1919 in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma to Cora Aretha and Jodie Custer Samuel Moad. He passed away March 1, 2012 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Quentin grew up in the Carpenter community and graduated from Hammon High School in 1938. He attended college at Panhandle A & M and Southwestern State Colleg in Weatherford before going to work for the US Soil Conservation Service. He entered the United States Army in 1941 and served his country during World War II.
He was married to Lucille (Crisman) at Sayre, OK on August 15, 1944. They lived in Tacoma, Washington until his discharge and they returned to Sayre to make their home. Quentin worked for REA until 1963 when he began working in Civil Service as an electrican until his retirement in 1985. Quentin served as a councilman for the City of Sayre for a number of years.
He was a member of the Sayre United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 infant son, Larry, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Survived by 1 Daughter, Barbara Shelton, and husband, Gary J., Farmington, NM; 3 Grandchildren, Sara Jayne Shelton, Farmington, NM, Michael Shelton and wife, Taira, Farmington, NM; Samantha Ann Shelton, Farmington, NM; 3 Great grandchildren, Isabell, Tyler and Charles, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 10:30 am at Sayre United Methodist Church officiated by Margo Vestal. Interment will be in Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre. Condolences may be made online at www.whineryfs.com
