SANDIE’S OBITUARY
Sandra “Sandie” Kay Moorman passed from this life on Monday, October 28, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Sandie was born June 9, 1960, in Pawnee, Oklahoma where she also attended school and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1978. She was the daughter of Charles Leslie Hanger and Ethel Juanita (Ellis) Hanger. Sandie attended Oklahoma State University for two years
before she was united in marriage to the love of her life Craig Moorman on June 14, 1980, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The two then moved to western Oklahoma and briefly lived in Cheyenne before ultimately establishing their home in Leedey where they continued to reside. Initially after the couple married Sandie worked at the Cordell Mercantile in Cheyenne. After moving to Leedey, she purchased the local flower shop and opened Sandie’s Flower Garden, later opening a second location in Cheyenne, Sandie’s Flower Garden Too.
Most importantly, Sandie was a loving and dedicated mother to her children, Miranda and Mason. She never missed a ballgame, play, academic bowl, livestock show, church camp or any other activity her kids wanted to participate in. She was also a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior. Sandie dedicated countless hours throughout 26 years to organizing the annual 12 Months of Celebration bringing thousands of women together for fellowship and raising funds for various local women’s ministries. She also spent several decades volunteering with the First Baptist Church of Leedey involved in everything from Vacation Bible School and children’s Wednesday night classes to the local Food Pantry and funeral dinner committee. She also served as the church secretary for several years.
Sandie loved antiquing and even opened her own online store after her children graduated from high school. She was an avid, and sometimes ruthless, card player. Her family knew if they ever beat her at rummy or nerts they had earned it because there was no going easy. Sandie had a special love for live theater and the arts. She was in several plays growing up and passed that passion along to her children. She and Craig loved attending Leedey’s plays as well as local community theater and traveling to see shows in Oklahoma City, Cripple Creek, Colorado, and Branson, Missouri. In the early days after moving to Leedey, Sandie was an organizer and devoted supporter of the Leedey Art Show which featured local and national artists and brought fine arts to western Oklahoma.
Sandie is survived by her husband Craig of the home; two children Miranda Moorman and her fiancee Chris Wittwer of Bellevue, Nebraska and Mason Moorman of Stillwater, Oklahoma and his girlfriend Sydney Cannon of Franklin, Tennessee; brother Charlie Hanger and his wife Beverly of Perry, Oklahoma; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Sandie is preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Ethel Hanger.
