NEAL, Richard Leon

Richard Leon Neal, 82 of Cheyenne, Oklahoma was born on August 15, 1933 in Berlin, Oklahoma. He is the son of Alvin Ray and Lizzie Loraine (Marshall) Neal. Leon went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Oklahoma Veterans’ Center in Clinton, Oklahoma.
Leon attended high school in Berlin, Oklahoma. He then served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married his best friend and sweetheart Lois Rae Walker Cook on January 3, 1964 in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Leon was a member of the NRA, North American Hunting Club and Clinton Archery. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bow and knife making, and metal detecting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Pastor Judy Timms will officiate. Interment will be at Berlin Cemetery in Berlin, Oklahoma. Services conducted in Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City.
Leon is survived by his wife, Lois of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; three sons, Dennis R. Cook, Sr. and his wife, Pamela of Elk City, Oklahoma, Morris “Lenny” Cook and his wife, Karen of Fairbanks, Alaska and Lesley Neal of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kelly Jo Myers and her husband Kerry of Clinton, Oklahoma, Maureen Staege and her husband, Bryan of Fairbanks, Alaska, Dennis Ray Cook, Jr. of Elk City, Oklahoma, Bryan Samuel Cook of Fairbanks, Alaska, Chauncey Neal of Sayre, Oklahoma and Ashley Dixon of Merritt, Oklahoma; and six great-grandchildren, Chase Staege, Sierra Staege, and Rebecca Staege, all three of Fairbanks, Alaska, Kolby Myers, Kolton Myers and Kannon Myers all of Clinton, Oklahoma; one uncle, Dale Neal of Sayre, OK and several cousins.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lizzie Neal and several aunts and uncles.
