Ervie Glen Porter, 87, of Dill City, Oklahoma was born on April 23, 1928 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He is the son of John Alva and Maggie Jane (Risley) Porter. Ervie went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He lived his first seventy-seven years in Cheyenne and Reydon, Oklahoma. In 2005, Ervie and his wife, Anna Lee moved to Dill City, Oklahoma. Ervie served his country during the Korean War, First Cavalry Division, from January 1951 to January 1953. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He married Anna Lee Forester on November 19, 1954 at Sayre, Oklahoma. He worked with several area ranchers who became life-long friends. Later Ervie attended and graduated from Barber College, and began working in Elk City and Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He gave many young boys their first haircut. He loved the history of Roger Mills County and enjoyed oil painting. Ervie always painted “The Antelope Hills” into each scene. He never met a stranger, he always enjoyed people. In high school he served as Senior Class President and “Class Clown”. His humor was special to many who knew him. Ervie served as President of the Cheyenne Round Up Club for eight consecutive years. He was dedicated to the sport of bull and bronco riding, advising many young men in this sport. Ervie surrendered his life to Jesus Christ while standing waist deep in water while serving his country in Japan. In 1959 he joined the Cheyenne First Baptist Church. Later he attended Media Church. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2015, at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Ervie is survived by his wife of sixty happy years, Anna Lee Porter, of the home; his daughter, Debbie McManaman and her husband, Rick of Dill City, Oklahoma; two sons, Tim Porter and his wife, Rebecca of Clinton, Oklahoma and Perry Porter of Dill City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Colt, Clint, Kleishen, Caden, Kelci, Kandice and Kourtney; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Donnaletta LeGrand of Reydon, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Evelyn Porter of Reydon, Oklahoma; a special cousin, Juanita Gordon and her husband, Bob of Elk City, Oklahoma; two nieces; four nephews; several cousins; and numerous in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie Porter; two brothers, J.T. Porter and Herschelle Wood; stepfather; Laf Wood.
