Orvil “Smokey” Mitchell Price was born June 22, 1921 to Boyd and Pearl (Bryant) Price on the family farm near Rhea, Oklahoma. Smokey passed from this life on September 4, 2012 at the Vici Nursing Home in Vici, Oklahoma.
Smokey lived near Rhea attending school there until 6th grade when he left school to help his father on the family farm. Smokey remained there until 1942 when he joined the United States Army Air Corp. He was honorably discharged on October 11, 1945. During his time in the military he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, 4 Overseas Bars, European-Africfan-Middle Eastern Service Medal and 4 Overseas Bars. While serving his country in England, Smokey met his wife Dorothy Joan Trigg. Smokey and Joan were married on February 23, 1945 in Cambridge, England. When Smokey and Joan returned to the United States they made there home in Leedey, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three children, Betty Lee, Wayne and Mickey.
After returning to Leedey, Smokey went back to his roots working on the farm for the remainder of his life. Smokey enjoyed fishing and working and was always there when one of his neighbors needed a helping hand. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Smokey is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Joan” Price; one daughter, Betty Lee; his parebnts, Boyd and Pearl Price; four sisters, Alta, Imogene, Leota and Virgi, and three brothers, Edysol, Loyle and Harold. He is survived by two sons, Wayne Price of Leedey, OK and Michael (Mickey) Price of Leedey, OK; twoi grandsons, Max Price of Woodward, OK and Darren Price and wife Kim of Woodward, OK; one sister, Nadine Kirkland of Visalia, CA; several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday September 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hermon Cemetery in Leedey, OK under the direction of Shaw Funeral Gome.
