SHARP, Rosetta Ruth “Rose”

Rosetta Ruth “Rose” Sharp, 91, of Hammon, Oklahoma was born on October 28, 1925 in Arnett,
Oklahoma to D.I. and Roma (Stevens) McLeran. She passed away peacefully and gently on
Thursday, December 8, 2016.
She became a Christian at an early age and expressed her beliefs and security in Christ
throughout her life. Rose’s early years were spent in Carnegie and Custer, Oklahoma. She
graduated from Custer City High School class of 1943.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who loved people and life. She was
witty, energetic, and the epitome of laughter. Rose would look on the positive side of everyday
living. Her ability to write poetry was remarkable. Rose was an extraordinarily talented lady.
She enjoyed working and held various jobs during her life that included being a hairdresser,
working in a drug store, and selling shoes for over twenty years.
Rose was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hammon where she taught Sunday School, a
lifetime member of the Red Moon Culture Club, Hammon Auxiliary club, and many other
organizations.
She married the love of her life, William Roland “Steve” Sharp after he returned from World War II
on November 30, 1945 at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Sayre, Oklahoma. He preceded
her in death on November 21, 1991.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at A.J. Creech High School
Auditorium in Hammon, Oklahoma. Brother Scott Showers will officiate and Rev. Fred Johnson
will assist. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at
Martin-Dugger Funeral Home. Interment will be at Moorewood Cemetery. Services have been
entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Rose is survived by her son, William Roland “Bill” Sharp Jr. and his wife, Sue of Tuttle, Oklahoma;
two daughters, Jacki Varnell and her husband, Charles of Sayre, Oklahoma, Mitzi Sneed and her
husband, Steve of Anadarko, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shauna Henson and her husband, Josh of
Stillwater, Oklahoma, Trey Sharp and his wife, Stephanie of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Andy Sharp and his
wife, Shannon of Hammon, Oklahoma, Linzi Mackey and her husband, Todd of Weatherford,
Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Will Henson and Kate Henson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Major
Sharp of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Ryan Padgett, Alex Little and Cooper Sharp all of Hammon, Oklahoma,
Kashlin Mackey and John Paul Mackey both of Weatherford, Oklahoma and numerous nephews,
nieces plus an host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Steve Sharp; twin daughters, Carolyn and
Marolyn; grandson, Blant Sharp; parents, D.I. McLeran and Roma Graham.
Rose wanted to let everyone know: “that it has been a good trip and she was loved every step of
the way.”
