SHERWOOD, Durward O.

Durward Otto Sherwood, 88, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on September 10, 1926 in Texmo, Oklahoma. He is the son of Frank Otto Sherwood and Edna (Bell) Sherwood. Durward went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Hammon High School class of 1945. Durward served his country in the United States Army. He married his best friend and sweetheart, Louisa Harris on November 30, 1957 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Durward lived and farmed in the Hammon area until 2013 when he and his wife moved to Elk City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Hammon, Oklahoma. Tom Harguess will officiate. Interment will be held at Dewey Cemetery in Leedey, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Durward is survived by his wife of fifty-seven happy years, Louisa Sherwood, of the home; his daughters, Deanna Findley and her husband, David, of Perryton, Texas and Kathy Hathaway and her husband, Dale of Elk City, Oklahoma; son, Durward Sherwood, Jr., of Hammon, Oklahoma; his sisters, Frances Ferrell of Leedey, Oklahoma and Betty Maxwell of Rosamond, California; nine grandchildren; Lisa Brown and husband, Toby, Daniel Findley and wife Lacy, Darrel Findley, Jessica Sherwood, Zachary Sherwood, Wesley Hathaway and wife Katie, Sara Hathaway, Jada Hathaway and Kade Hathaway; twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna Sherwood; three sisters, Josie Bodey, Nellie Lester and Cora Hawkins; his brother, Frankie Sherwood; grandson, Blake Hathaway; and his great-granddaughter, Searra Sherwood.
