Funeral services for Leslie Baley Smith, Cheyenne,
were held Monday at 11 a.m.,
January 22, 1973,
in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Martin
officiating.
Born in Grayson County, Texas, August 28, 1906,
Mr. Smith came to Cheyenne in November 1971 from Ft. Worth, Texas. He was
married November 3, 19
28 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Lucille McClellan. To
this union was born six children, He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He departed this life
January 20, 1973. He made a profession of faith in the later years of his
life.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Lydia
Jane Hendrix Smith, one sister, Floreen Smith Fitzgerald, one
daughter, Patricia Smith Williams and one granddaughter, Leslie June
Smith.
Survivors are his wife of the home, three
daughters, Bonita Beals of Strong City, Mrs. Loretta Sexton, Mrs. Jeweleen
Martindale, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; two sons, Leslie Dwayne Smith of
Weatherford, Texas; Billy Mack Smith of White Settlement, Texas; his father,
Mr. W.W. Smith of Phoenix, Arizona,  four brothers, Coy of Dumas,
Texas, R.D. of Johnson, Kansas, Dewey of Ft. Worth, Texas and Udell
“Willie” Smith of Rolls, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Effie Biggs and Mrs.
Opal Hayworth of Denver, Colorado,  Mrs. Nadine Drake of Phoenix, Arizona,
Mrs. Frankie Weatherford of Calipatrial, California; nine grandchildren:
Lonnie, Terry and Gail Beals of Strong City, Oklahoma; Joan Taylor of Borger,
Texas; Jean Whiteneck of Lahoma, Oklahoma; Darrell and Janet Smith of
Weatherford, Texas; Susan Sexton and Michael Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas and a
host of relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Mac Taylor, Don Whiteneck, Coy
Gene Smith, Terry Drake, Roy McClellan, Leroy Weatherley.
Committal was in the Silent Home Cemetery of
Roll. Scroggins and Son in Charge.
