Lela Joan Sprowls was born April 24, 1933 in Weatherford, Oklahoma, to Zada Golden. She passed away at her home in Leedey, Oklahoma on November 1, 2011 at the age of 78.
Joan attended grade school at Center Point and then attended Leedey High School. Before she was married, she lived in Leedey, Oklahoma, Clinton, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In 1954 Joan was united in marriage to James C. Sprowls in Gainesville, Texas. To this union three sons were born, Larry J., Terry Lee, and Jerry L. After they were married, Joan and James lived in Washington, California, and Arizona before making heir home in Leedey, Oklahoma.
Joan worked as a homemaker taking care of her husband and their three sons. She loved cooking, gardening and crocheting.
Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Zada Golden and two brothers, Evert and Gordon Golden.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband, James Sprowls of Leedey, Oklahoma; three sons, Larry Sprowls of Aurora, Colorado, Terry Sprowls and wife Jackie of Barstow, California, and Jerry Sprowls of Leedey, Oklahoma; Sister, Laveta Burkhard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Leon Golden of Bell Plaine, Kansas and Bobby Golden of Foss, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews, and many friends.
